DEPA Learning Package I
Recommended for graduates of non-PBA-accredited anesthesia residency training on or before Dec. 31, 2000 or for those who took the DOH six months course by 1997 and are employed in government services for at least 10 years as of 2007. The DEPA Program is PBA approved and qualifies graduates to be eligible to take the PBA certifying exam. This consists of Basic Anesthesia Education (Perioperative Care) and Advance Anesthesia Education (Anesthesia Management in Special Cases), Skills Laboratory and Research Methodology. Courses added to ensure a high passing rate are Testwisemanship, Critical Thinking, and Review.
DEPA Learning Package II
Recommended for anesthesiologists interested in review or as an update. One can enroll in one or more modules during its scheduled period. Each module in basic and clinical anesthesia education may also be taken with or without the courses on critical thinking, review and testwisemanship. Taking up the latter set is highly recommended as a review to ensure high passing rate. Each module can be taken at random and consists of 2 to 4 related topics on different aspects of anesthesiology. The Physiology Module however is a prerequisite to the Clinical Anesthesia V module.

DEPA Learning Package III
Recommended for anesthesiologists interested in research methodology. This Learning Package starts with the formulation of a research question to the actual presentation of the research paper. This consists of workshops and with preceptor-guided consultation on making an actual research paper. An optional course on Case Report and Presentation is added.

Students who wish to enroll in DEPA need a minimum of skills and basic computer literacy like use of Microsoft office and accessing the internet. All students will take the Self-Assessment for Distance Learning.
- Duly accomplished application form.
- Curriculum vitae with 2x2 picture.
- For graduates of non-PBA-accredited and PBA-accredited residency training institutions, xerox copy of the certificate of training inclusive of the date of training.
- For graduates of the DOH six months training, xerox copy of certificate of training; and certificate of practice from the Chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology or its equivalent.
- Certificate of good standing from the Philippine Society of Anesthesiologists (PSA). Certification from local chapter is required if applicant is form the province.
- Basic computer and internet skills (word processing, email and surfing the internet) Must have access to computer with internet connection.
- Processing fee of php 700.00.

- Enrollment may also be done by an authorized representative. The authorized representative must submit a letter of authority, xerox copy of the Identification Cards of the student and the authorized representative. The student must inform the DEPA secretariat of the reason why he can not enroll personally.
- The student may also request for early or late enrollment with explanation addressed to the DEPA Program Director through the Vice-chairman for Students Affairs.
- A student is considered officially enrolled when he has received his certificate of enrollment and his name appears in the masterlist of enrollees for the specific period.
- The student will be notified of the schedule and procedure of enrollment through a letter of acceptance to the DEPA Program he has applied for. He has to inform the DEPA secretariat of his intent to enroll. The schedule of enrollment is also posted at the PSA Secretariat, PSA Website and PSA-DEPA Website.
- Present the original letter of acceptance to the DEPA program he applied for. Fill-up the Student Information Form (SIF) and the Registration Form (RF).
Submit these forms and a Xerox copy of the letter of acceptance to the DEPA Secretariat. Assessment of the amount of the tuition fee will follow. - Tuition fee payment can be done through accredited bank/s of the PSA, personally or through an authorized representative.
Distance education tuition rates can vary depending on the program enrolled. The rate is PHp 700 /unit. In addtion to the tuition fee, all students registered for distance courses are responsible for the following fees: Library Fee, Technology Fee, Distance Education Fee, Registration Fee and Development Fee. Qualified applicants who fail to register and enroll on the prescribed date without notification and approval of the Vice-chairman for Students’ Affairs (Academic {Policies} and Program Director lose their privilege of being admitted.
Modules which have garnered at least five module partners will be available at the DEPA website on the scheduled period for non-students of DEPA. They can access the said module/s without paying the basic tuition fee of Php 700.00 per unit. However, they have to be PSA member of “good standing” and will be asked to pay the miscellaneous fee of Php 1,350 per student.
Scholarship will be granted to deserving students enrolled in the full program of DEPA for Board Eligibility. PSA will sponsor one full scholar under the title Dr. Braulio de Castro Memorial Scholarship in remembrance of his dedication and commitment to anesthesia academic excellence. He was an outstanding Professor in Anesthesiology in the University of the Philippines who worked hand in hand with Dr. Quintin J. Gomez in starting the specialty of Anesthesiology in the Philippines. In 1975, he became Chairman of the PBA.
He was the second president of the PSA. Scholars subsidized by pharmaceutical companies will carry the name PSA DEPA-Pharmaceutical Company name Scholarship. Scholars of DEPA must maintain a weighted average of “1.5” or higher for each semester with no grade lower than 1.75.
Policies:
- Application to scholarship or study grants should be made after enrollment on specified period of time. The basis for granting scholarship to the full program of DEPA for Board Eligibility will be set by the Promotion Board.
- Scholarship or study grants are awarded on a semestral basis.
- Scholarship shall be forfeited automatically when the grades fall below the required standard.
- Students awarded scholarship must carry the required load per semester and no grade of "incomplete" or module/s dropped.
- The grantee shall complete the entire course, otherwise he shall reimburse the total amount of his basic tuition and miscellaneous fees.
